Citronella essential oil is a light, fresh, and uplifting oil. It is a natural deodorizer. Mostly, it is reputed to repel insects (mosquitos).
Traditional uses: deodorant, skin conditioner, and insect repellent.
Properties: antiseptic, bactericidal, diuretic.
Citronella essential oil may cause irritation in those with sensitive skin.
AVOID THIS OIL DURING PREGNANCY.
Bug-Away Skin Oil:
- 2 tbsp of vegetable oil (we recommend soybean oil)
- 5 drops Cedarwood essential oil
- 4 drops Lemon essential oil
- 2 drops Geranium essential oil
- 1 drop Citronella essential oil
- Mix these together in a plastic bottle and apply to skin to stay bug-free!

Blends Well With: Basil, black pepper, clary sage, geranium, tea tree, rosemary, vetiver, ylang ylang, and the other eucalyptus essential oils
Also known as Lemon Eucalyptus, this essential oil has the strong aroma of eucalyptus with a refreshing lemony scent. It’s great for clearing the air and makes a great air freshener. When diffused, it makes a great choice for removing musty smells. It’s perfect for use in carpeted basements.
Like citronella, it is said to be effective for use as an insect repellent and is known to work well in bug repellent blends.
